How Chimney Crowns Are Made

A quality crown is made of top-grade concrete that’s poured into a slab at the top of the chimney, covering everything except the flue opening. The crown should be designed with a slight angle to encourage water runoff. There should also be a subtle extension of the crown on all sides to help guide water away from the chimney’s masonry.
