Of all the components in a modern chimney system, the chimney liner is probably the most critical when it comes to protecting your chimney and home.

We serve the entire Greenville, SC, and Spartanburg, SC, regions, along with Easley, Greer, Mauldin, Duncan, Boiling Springs, and other South Carolina cities and towns in Greenville and Spartanburg counties.
The Dangers of a Damaged Chimney Liner
The two most common chimney liner styles we find in our customers’ homes are stainless-steel liners and terra-cotta tile liners. Both styles are strong, but neither will last forever.
When a chimney liner begins to fail, all kinds of problems can start:
- Smoke backing up into the room due to flue-narrowing creosote buildups in beaks and jagged edges of the liner.
- Sluggish drafting caused by flue air escaping through holes in the liner.
- The drying out of home building materials near openings in the liner setting the stage for a destructive fire.
- Carbon monoxide and other dangerous combustion gases backing up into your home.
Two Chimney Liner Solutions
There are two excellent ways to address problems with flue liners.

Stainless Steel Chimney Liners
Chimneys can be relined with a new stainless steel chimney liner. This is ideal for older stainless steel liners that have begun to fail, as well as for some damaged clay tile liners.
Because the stainless steel liners we install chimneys are flexible and can be sized for any length and diameter, they’re perfect for very tall chimneys and drafting systems that feature turns and angles.
Stainless steel is not only a powerful material to safeguard your chimney and home, but it’s also a material that resists buildups of flammable creosote and soot – two things that are always issues with chimneys that serve wood-burning fireplaces.

HeatShield Repair and Relining
Many of our customers have chimneys with terra-cotta tile liners. They’re especially prominent in older historic chimneys.
The solution of choice for repairing or relining a clay tile flue is often HeatShield Refractory Flue Sealant. HeatShield is a specialized compound that can be used to patch damaged flue tile areas and to recoat the entire surface of a flue completely.
Our technicians are factory-trained in the application of HeatShield for liner repair and resurfacing projects. We use specialized foam pads and pulley-activated plugs to coat the refractory sealant, resulting in a protective chimney liner.
Chimney Flue Inspections
Before any chimney liner work begins, we’ll perform a thorough liner inspection. With the aid of a video camera, we’ll be able to assess the condition of your current liner and make recommendations on the proper chimney repair or relining approach.
Annual chimney inspections cover the flue as well as all other accessible areas of your chimney system. In between inspections, watch for tile pieces in the firebox, unusual drafting problems, and smoke backups. Call us if you notice any of these.
