Stainless Steel Chimney Liners

chimney liner install in Augusta GAWhen the clay or terra-cotta liner in an older chimney cracks or the mortar joints erode, it allows smoke, embers, carbon monoxide and sometimes fire to escape through the liner into the ceilings and attic space of your home. These cracks or voids are usually invisible by just looking in the chimney, but can lead to a devastating result. Our Certified Chimney Professionals use specialized camera equipment to view areas of the chimney and lining that can’t be seen from the top or bottom of the chimney.

Areas Of Concern We Inspect For:

  • Deteriorated mortar between clay flue liners
  • Cracked flue liners or tiles
  • Spalling (or flaking) of the flue liner or tiles
  • Gaps and holes between flue tiles

If we discover any deficiency or problem with your liner, we will immediately alert you so you can see the issue “live” on our camera system.  We will also take several photos to include in the inspection report for documentation.   We will make a recommendation on what kind of repair is best, and give an honest, fair estimate to repair.

Our Certified Chimney Professionals can install an insulated, stainless steel liner or, in most cases, repair the existing liner or tiles with the HeatShield method.  Both types of repairs carry a lifetime warranty.

Types of Chimney Liners

There are several different types of chimney liners. However, it is essential that the liner is properly sized for the opening of your fireplace so it can draft properly.

Terra-cotta (clay):  Terra-cotta or clay flue tiles are the most common type of liner. The tiles are available in different shapes and sizes. Clay flue tiles are prone to cracking when exposed to chimney fires or moisture intrusion and will often need to be repaired.

Stainless Steel Chimney Liners: The Certified Chimney Professionals at Advanced Chimney Sweep are experienced in stainless steel chimney installations. Stainless steel liners are safer and more durable than other types of liners.

To address clearance issues with combustible materials in your attic, an insulated stainless steel liner is the mandatory, UL listed solution. The insulation shields nearby wood framing from the extreme heat of the chimney, preventing a serious fire hazard.
